    Felicity following her surgery

Sweet Felicity came to us a few days ago after a kind person found her on the side of the road. When he first drove by he thought she was dead. He drove by again a little later and realized she had moved and was alive. Thankfully, he rescued her and his family contacted us for help.

Felicity is only about 4-5 months old. Her right femur was broken and the nerves in her right front shoulder are damaged, likely the result of being hit by a car on her right side. On Wednesday she underwent surgery to repair her broken femur, which involved shaving down the bone – ligament and muscle will eventually develop and allow the bone to rest in the hip joint, allowing her leg to function normally. The surgery went well and she is now recovering. We will continue to keep an eye on her right front shoulder over the next 4-6 weeks. We hope that her nerves will heal, but if they do not there is a chance her right front leg may need to be amputated.

We’re so happy to be able to help Felicity, but she is the 11th cat we’ve taken in over the last week and her surgery is costly. Any donations toward her care would be greatly appreciated!
